Greta Beauchamp

Mrs. Greta Beauchamp, age 70 of Fayette, passed away Sunday, November 26, 2017 at Hospice of West Alabama. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 30, 2017 at 2:30 P.M. from Nelson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Fayette Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday from 1-2:30 at the funeral home. Rev. Tom Gavin and Rev. Scott Davis will officiate. She was preceded in death by her parents: William and Catherine Patterson Skoglund. Survivors include her husband: Rex Beauchamp of Fayette, two daughters: Elizabeth Shelton (Andy) of Columbiana, Mary Lawhorn (Josh) of Tuscaloosa, two grandchildren: Sarah Elizabeth and Drew Shelton of Columbiana. Greta was born October 13, 1947 in Tuscaloosa. She was a graduate of Marion County High School and The University of Alabama where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education. Greta proudly served as a faculty member of Fayette County High School for almost 20 years. Throughout her tenure, she was honored to serve students not only as a teacher of English and literature , but also as a sponsor of National Honor Society , Student Council and Upward Bound. She was a member of Fayette First Baptist Church, where she served in various roles throughout the years. Greta was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Music Study Club of Fayette. She enjoyed time with her friends each Tuesday playing Bridge. Honorary pallbearers are: members of Paul Thompson's senior adult men's Sunday school class at Fayette First Baptist Church. Active pallbearers will be: John Aaron, Jim Ayres, Jr., Jim Burkhalter, Jerry Dodson, Alva Grimsley, Jeremy Madden, and Corey Savage.
