Willie Carrell

Mrs. Willie Carrell, age 82 of Millport, passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at Generations of Vernon.

Funeral services will  be held Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 11-A.M. from Nelson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Shiloh/Pinhook Cemetery in Lamar Co. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10-11 A.M. at the funeral home.

Survivors include Kenneth Cornelius Carrell, daughters: Sharon Watkins and Wendy Hawkins (Greg) both of Millport, grandchildren: Sherry Brown (Earl), Clinton Dale Watkins (Ashley), Jaime Hall (Brent), Shane Strickland (Chasity), Timmy Strickland, Jonathon Carrell (Anna), Misty Driver (Chris), Lynn Carrell (Brandon Newell), Courtney Carruth (Lee), Ariel Hawkins, and Erica Hawkins, eighteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by sons: Keith Brian Carrell, Kenneth Neal Carrell, daughter: Charlotte Jeanette Strickland, parents: William "Hill" Nelson and Evie Mae Stephens Nelson, three brothers, and four sisters.

She married Kenneth Cornelius Carrell in 1951. SHe raised 5 children and thought the world of her grandchildren. She went back to school in 1976 to obtain her GED at the age of 40. SHe worked in manufacturing plants for many years but completed her career at the Vernon Public Library. She accepted the Lord at a young age and practiced her faith everyday in everything she did. She was a devoted member of Cody Church of God. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and feeding her family.
