Vivian Burns Obituary

Vivian Catherine Gammill Burns, age 95 of Fayette, passed away Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Morningview Estates Assisted Living Facility. 

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at 2-P.M. from Fayette Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Vivian was born March 5, 1928 in Webster County, MS to Edgar and Dera Palmer Gammill. She was employed by Langston Insurance and Real Estate and later by Langston Building Services, Inc. in Shaw, MS until her retirement. While in Shaw, she was an active member of Shaw Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, was an active member of WMU and served on various church committees. She was also a member of the Shaw Civic Club.

She moved to Fayette, Alabama in 1999 and was an active member of Fayette First Baptist Church, the Church's "Joy" Fellowship Group, and the Church Library Board.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Davis Burns, sisters, Gretchen Godfrey and Geneth Grace, brothers, Odis Gammill, Mack Gammill and Orben Gammill.

She leaves surviving her daughter, Karen Davis (Lee), granddaughter, LeeAnn Davis Nolen (Jack III), and great-granddaughter, Avery Catherine Nolen, all of Fayette, sister, Ina G. Williams of Wilmer, AL, and a brother, Lynn E. Gammill of Cedar Bluff, MS.

Honorary pallbearers are, Merrell Nolen, Jack M. Nolen III, Tommy Williams, Dave Clemens, Alva Grimsley, Theron Nolen, Nurses and Staff of Morningview Estates, Dr. Fred Yerby, Jay Lawrence, Coach and Mrs. Carolyn Anderson, Mrs. Shirley Williams, Mrs. Kim Clemens, Mrs. Christine Howell, and Mrs. Judy Bartholomew.

Memorials may be made to Fayette First Baptist Church or Fayette First Methodist Church.
