Mrs. Velma Louise Curington, age 87 of Berry, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2022 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 20, 2022 at 11-A.M. from Nelson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Berry. The family will receive friends Friday from 10-11 A.M. at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Jim Travis Curington, granddaughter: Bobbie Morrison, grandson: James Campbell, and great grandsons: Michael Cody Wold and Jarrod Porter.
Survivors include three sons: Travis Curington (Wanda), Tim Curington (Lisa), and Billy Curington (Robin) all of Berry, three daughters: Carolyn Westbrook (Doug) of Berry, Linda Stacks (Billy) of Boligee, and Jeanette Clark (Rodney) of Berry, thirteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, and twenty-five great-great grandchildren.
Born in Tuscaloosa County on the Johnson Farm, she was raised with two brothers and eight sisters. She grew up in the Samantha Community where she then raised six children of her own having three girls and three boys. She lived a full active life enjoying her canning and quilting along with her flower beds as much as she loved all her grandchildren and great to great-great grandchildren. Even though she was only five feet five inches tall, she was known to all and everyone of them as Big Maw Maw.
Honorary pallbearers are: Jeffery Porter, Johnathan Porter, Danny Morrison, Jeromy Morrison, Jacob Clark, and Amedisis Hospice.
Active pallbearers will be: Christopher Curington, Justin Curington, J.T. Curington, Dustin Curington, Edward Dockery, and Jordan Stacks.
