Sue Yerby

Mrs. Mary Sue Yerby, age 91, of Fayette Alabama passed away peacefully on December 21, 2023.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at 12:00 P.M. at the Nelson Funeral Home Chapel, Fayette, Alabama. Burial will follow at Liberty Freewill Baptist Church in Crossville. Winn Prescott will officiate. The family will receive friends that morning from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M at Nelson Funeral home.

Mrs. Yerby was the fifth-generation matriarch leaving behind a large loving family and a host of friends. She is survived by her sons Danny (Robin) Jackson, Richmond, VA; Rodney (Mary) Yerby, Madison, AL; Fred (Debbie) Yerby, Fayette, AL and daughter Regina Yerby Rose, Chattanooga, TN. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.

Mrs. Yerby was preceded in death by three adoring spouses, Herman Jackson, Arnold Hester, and Raphael Yerby; her parents and three sisters.

On becoming a widow for the last time, Mrs. Yerby continued to be surrounded by the love and attention of her large family and a great number of friends.  Over the last several years she was pampered and cared for by her loving granddaughters, Catina and Courtney, and the entire staff of Fayette Medical Center Long Term Care.

Mrs. Yerby left a final message to all. “My life’s been good, So don’t be sad: I’m in heaven now…Please be glad.”

Pallbearers will be: Jackson Butler, Cullin Carter, Matt Jackson, Drake Shaw, Jerry Pee, Will Prescott, and Thomas Yerby.
