Mr. Napoleon Miller "Sonny" Worrell, Jr., age 75 of Fayette, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 26, 2025 at 2-P.M. from Nelson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Fayette Memorial Gardens. Bro. Scott Davis and Bro. Randy Harris will officiate.The family will receive friends Sunday from 1-2 P.M. at the funeral home.
Sonny was born and raised in Brent, Alabama. He graduated from Bibb County High School and from there joined the US Navy. He served in the Navy reconnaissance during the Vietnam War.He served 7 years and was Honorably discharged. H e then went to the University of Alabama and worked on road construction with McDowell Construction. He was the manager of Sports-A-Foot in Northport. He left there and moved to Fayette and lived here 41 years. He worked at Arvin and then Phifer in Tuscaloosa. He was active with FCHS Band program and Dogwood production. Sonny was a member of Crossview Community Church.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter: Emily Nicole Worrell, mother: Alice Ann Worrell, and father: Napoleon Worrell.
Survivors include is wife: Condra Perkins Worrell of Fayette, son: Nicholas M. Worrell (Christy) of Fayette, daughter: Amanda Leah Worrell Hattaway (Drew) of Fayette, brother: Mike Worrell (Pam) of Birmingham, 7 grandchildren: Zane Hattaway, Leah Hattaway, Riley Worrell, Daniel Worrell, Nathan Pasley, Noah Pasley, and Samuel Pasley.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Joe Perkins, Zane Hattaway, and Larry Meigs.
Active pallbearers will be: Riley Worrell, Nathan Pasley, Bradley Worrell, Ned Nichols, Scott Porter, and Drew Hattaway.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations to the FCHS Band Foundation.
