Sally Ballard Harrison

Mrs. Sally Ballard Harrison, age 92 of Fayette, passed away Friday, September 13, 2024 at Fayette Medical Center Long Term Care.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 15, 2024 at 2-P.M. from Nelson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1-2 P.M. at the funeral home.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Earnest Carl Ballard and Lurline Hazel Whitlock Ballard, husband: Billy F. Harrison, brother: William Carl Ballard, sons: William Glenn Hickman and Jeffery Marlin Hickman, and daughter: Deborah Lazelle Hickman Sutton.

Survivors include her sons: David Wayne Harrison (Vickie) of Vance, AL and Gregory Frank Harrison (Lynn) of Fayette, AL, daughter: Rebecca Allison Johnson of Carrolton, AL, 9 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Harrison was born November 26, 1931 in Kinder, LA to Earnest Carl and Lurline Whitlock Ballard. She was raised in Aliceville, AL by her grandmother Uzie Scott Whitlock, who she called (other momma). She was a seamstress in the garment industry for many years. She loved to sew. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, and later in life, a caregiver. One thing she learned from her grandmother was determination. She saw no obstacle she could not overcome. She was an inspiration to many people.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Dr. Fred Yerby and staff of FMC Long Term care.
