Roy Corbin Obituary

Roy Wayne Corbin of Bankston, AL was born January 19, 1948 in Fayette County, AL. He passed from this life on October 30, 2025 at the age of 78 at his home in Bankston. He was happily married to his wife Carolyn Corbin for 32 years.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 3:30-P.M. from Nelson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Cleveland Church of Christ Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 2:30-3:30-P.M. at the funeral home.

He is survived by his wifeCarolyn, his daughter Teresa Kenney (Mike), his sons Mark Corbin and Steven Corbin (Elsie), 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and a sister Sybil Overstreet.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother Grover and Burlene Corbin, stepson Jimmy Brashier, and son-in-law Johnny Ellis.

Roy grew up in Bankston and Brownville, AL. He was a joyful and mischievous young man with a love and respect for nature and animals that followed him into his last days. He loved to fish and drive fast cars, and was the go-to guy for repair work far and wide. From televisions to old cars, Roy could fix it all, and he found value in the under-valued, restoring what many saw as beyond saving.

After high school, Roy joined the US Army and was deployed to Vietnam. Like many veterans, his military service is filled with intriguing tales, such as training with a group of Buddhist Monks alongside a detachment of Army Green Berets in the mountains of Korea. During his time in Korea, he also served as military police for the Liberty Camp Bell DMZ.

Roy was positive and charismatic soul, whose radiant presence continually uplifted the spirits of everyone he encountered. Whether through a warm smile, a kind word, or the quiet strength of simply being there, he brought light into every room he entered. His genuine compassion, effortless charm, and unwavering optimism left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He didn't just brighten spaces-he brightened lives.
