Rodger Cannon, 58 of Samantha, transitioned into Glory on June 23rd at DCH Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
Rodger was predeceased by his father, Jerry Cannon, a brother, Ike Cannon, and grandparents, Ike and Alice Cannon, Wilsie Jones, and Tommy Hamner. Survivors include the Love of his Life for 22 years, Beretta Henderson; a daughter, Chelsea Collins; his mother, Sara Allen; sisters Denise (Tommy) Pate and Barbara (Joey) Winters; brothers Sean (Mary) Cannon and Robert Cannon; grandsons Ryder and Dakota; and numerous other relatives.
To know Rodger was to love him. He was one of the most generous men you could meet, a talented musician and mechanic, and a strong advocate for his family. The past year has been especially difficult for him following his father's death, as they were joined at the hip and could often be seen running their errands around the backroads of Samantha and the Northside community. His silly giggle and contented spirit will be sorely missed. Our lives are better for having had him in it. Our family prayed for a miracle healing on this earth; Rodger got one better, celestial healing out of this world. He will never, ever be forgotten.
Graveside services will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 27th, at Boone Cemetery in Samantha, with Brother Terry Joe Oswalt officiating. Steve Sullivan, Darren Jones, Donald Taylor, Dave Reece, Justin Reece, and Joseph Cannon will be Pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include Mitch Robertson, Douglas Trull, Kenny Gilliam, Buster Bolton, Todd Bolton, Charles Carr, Nelson Davidson, and the Northside and Samantha communities.
