Mr. Robert Crowley, age 87 of Kennedy, passed away Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 6, 2018 at 3-P.M. from Nelson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Meadow Branch Cemetery in Kennedy. Tim McCool, Chris McCool and Lon Moon will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday from 1-3 P.M. at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife: Bobbie Crowley of Kennedy, sons: Sammy (Charlotte) Crowley and Mike (Kelli) Crowley, both of Kennedy, daughters: Denise (John) Harper of Kennedy and Susan (Frank) Bagwell of Fayette, eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father: John William Crowley, mother: Lula H. Crowley, son: Rickey Lewis Crowley, and grandson: Blake Bagwell.
Robert Crowley was born on May 8th, 1931. He was one of six siblings born to John William Crowley and Lula Hindman Crowley. He graduated from Kennedy High School in 1949. Not long after graduating, he married his wife of 67 years, Bobbie Watkins Crowley. He got drafted into the Korean War Conflict. Because he was the only one in his division that was able to type, he became the Division’s Clerk Typist. After returning from the war, he farmed, drove a school bus, worked at Value Company Die, Sterilon, and UPS. He worked at UPS for 22 years before retiring. He was an avid crappie fisherman and enjoyed deer hunting.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Fayette Rehabilation Center and Fayette Home Health Care.
Active pallbearers will be: Miles Crowley, Josh Harper, Sloan Harper, Kyle Newman, John Harper, Frank Bagwell, and Dustin Morgan.
