Rex Beauchamp

Mr. Rex Beauchamp, age 90 of Fayette, passed away Friday, July 25, 2025, at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 28, 2025, at 3 p.m.  from Nelson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Fayette Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday from 2-3 p.m. at the funeral home. Dr. Mike Miller and Rev. Tom Gavin will officiate. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Clittie Lambert Beauchamp, beloved wife Greta Skoglund Beauchamp and siblings. Survivors include his daughters, Elizabeth Shelton (Andy) of Columbiana, Alabama, and Mary Beauchamp of Chicago, Illinois, as well as two adored grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth and Drew Shelton of Columbiana. Rex was born November 24, 1934, in Brilliant, Alabama. He was a graduate of Brilliant High School and The University of North Alabama where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education. He was a retired coach, educator, civic leader and businessman, as well as a proud Army veteran. Rex was an active member of Fayette First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He also served as a member of The Gideons International. Rex enjoyed attending all school events from plays to concerts to sporting events, wholeheartedly supporting his grandchildren, who were the lights of life. Honorary pallbearers are members of the fellowship Bible Sunday school class at Fayette First Baptist Church – Jerry Childress, Ronald Gallups, Jeffie Lawrence, Bud Robinson, Joe Smith and Paul Thompson. Active pallbearers will be John Aaron, Adam Canterbury, AJ Cole, Danny Coley, Jerry Dodson and Barry Lowe.
