Pheobe Kizzire Obituary

Vera Nell (Pheobe) Kizzire, age 80 of Fayette, passed away on December 2, 2021.

Pheobe was born on August 10, 1941, to George and Ruby Feltman of the Pea Ridge Community. She was a 1959 Graduate of Berry High School.  A lifelong Fayette resident, Pheobe was known by most for her infectious smile.  She was a wonderful and selfless Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and Caregiver.  She retired in 2008 from the Fayette Medical Center Surgery Department after a long career of providing service in a variety of roles  in nursing homes and hospitals.
Pheobe loved her family and had more friends than could be counted.  She was everyone’s adopted mother and welcomed all to sit at her table and have a cup of coffee, any time of day!
The epitome of inclusiveness and unconditional love, Pheobe saw the absolute best in everyone and approached life with a “It’s all gonna be all right” mentality. She lived her life humbly and was known for her kindness and her ability to make everyone feel special.

Pheobe was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Edward Kizzire; her father, George Feltman; her mother, Ruby Feltman; her brothers, Roy Gene Feltman and Roger Dale Feltman;  and her grandson, Will Kizzire.

Survivors include her daughters, Teresa Kizzire, Pam McCormick (Jeff), and Sherry Terry (Kenneth); and her sons, Tim Kizzire (Lindsay) and George Kizzire (Marla); her brothers, George Feltman, Jr. (Dorothy) and Edward Feltman (Dorothy); her sister, Shirley Shepherd (Holley); her  sister-in-law, Bobbie Feltman; and her precious sixteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Special thanks to family friend and caregiver Cathy Johnson, Dr.Fred Yerby and staff, FMC Home Heath, and Alabama Hospice Care for the wonderful care provided.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, December 5, 2021, with Kathy Griffith, officiating, and  Nelson Funeral Home, directing.
