In loving memory of Peggy Sims, who passed away on February 4, 2024
surrounded by her family that she loved dearly. She was the devoted wife
of Kalos Sims and loving mother of Leshia Moeller, Jim Sims, and Lana
May. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Peggy was born on July 10, 1937 in Fayette, Alabama. She graduated
from Fayette County High School in 1955 and married her husband,
Kalos, in 1956. A lifelong resident of Fayette, she loved her community
and was a member of Fayette Church of Christ. She and her husband
owned and operated Lisa’s BBQ from 1995-2018.
Peggy was preceded in death by her mother, Vera Lea Smith Yerby,
father, Leon McGee Yerby, and step mother Dicie Bobo Yerby.
She is survived by her husband, Kalos Sims, children Leshia Moeller (Jim
Moeller), Jim Sims (Jalaine), and Lana May (Joey). She also leaves
behind grandchildren Katy Wallace (Derek), Abby Nixon (Daniel), Rachel Moeller, Ian Moeller, Erin Moeller, Anna
Shaw (Justin), Erin Murphree (Colt), Evan Sims (Hanna), Caleb
Whitehead (Macy), Carli Beth Whitehead, Whitley Berryhill, Matthew May, and Will May, and her great-
grandchildren Preston Wallace, Adylise Wallace, Xavi Hernandez, Etta
Nixon, Samuel Shaw, Sarah Shaw, Callum Shaw, Claire Shaw, Elese
Murphree, Cooper Whitehead, and Wrenlee Whitehead. She is also
survived by her siblings Charles Yerby, Betty Hubbert, and Joe Yerby.
A visitation will be held at Nelson Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 6,
2024 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. from Camp Comfort Community Cemetery.
The family wants to thank Fayette Medical Center-Long Term Care and
Amedisys Hospice for their amazing care for Peggy, especially in her last
days.
