Ned Smith

Mr. Ned Smith, age 80 of Fayette, passed away Monday, August 24, 2020 at the Fayette Medical Center. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, August 25, at 6-P.M. from Hopewell Cemetery in Fayette. Bro. Steve Stamps will officiate.

Mr. Ned Smith was born to the late Linwood Stewart Smith and Sara Helen Renfroe Smith. He graduated from Fayette County Highschool in 1958. He then married his loving wife of 60 yrs, Mrs. Doris Jane Trimm Smith on May 26, 1960. He then continued his education graduating from the University of Alabama in 1963 with a degree in Commerce and Business Administration. Mr. Smith became the longtime business owner of Smith's Country Mall. He also served in National Guard. Mr. Smith was a member of Rehobeth Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife: Doris Jane Smith of Fayette, daughters: Kimberly Atkinson (Larry) of Winfield, Kelli Woodard (Herb), brother: Joe Smith (Ada), 4 grandchildren: Lindsey Colley (Jason), Jordan Atkinson (Abi), Nolan Woodard, Isaac Atkinson, 4 great-grandchildren, guardian to 2 nephews: Buddy McEachern (Kate) of Saint Peters, MO, Bobby McEachern (Becky) of Fayette, and guardian of his niece: Jane Sanford (David) of Birmingham.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and one sister: Marilyn McEachern.

Honorary pallbearer will be Kristen Moore with Amedysis of Fayette.
