Nancy A. Byars

Nancy A. Byars, 73, of Altamont, IL, died at 2:20 a.m. Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, March 6, 2021 at the First Baptist Church, Altamont with Rev. Bill Weaver officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until service time at the church. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at Shady Grove Cemetery, Fayette, AL. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, ALtamont or Gideons International.

Nancy Ann Byars was born on Sunday, July 27, 1947 in Vandalia to Arthur Adolph and Anna Sophia Ida (Rohlfing) Voelker. She met and later married William Earl Byars on June 4, 1982 in Dallas, Texas and he survives. She was employed by General Electric Capital Real Estate as a manager of office property buildings, she was a former real estate agent, was a certified property manager, and belonged to the Institute of Real Estate Marketing, all of Dallas. She was a member and officer of the Gideon's Auxiliary. After their retirement, Nancy and William returned to her hometown of Altamont where she became a member and very active in the First Baptist Church and the Altamont Garden Club.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by; her daughter, Lynne Brody (Stephan), Dallas, TX; brother, Ronald (Elsie) Voelker, Mason; 1 grandson, Travis Aaron Brody, Dallas, TX; several nieces and nephews and great nephews and 1 great niece.
