Michael Wayne Wheat, 52, of Fayette, Alabama, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2026. He has gone to rest and rejoice, and is now fully healed.
Services for Michael Wheat will be held Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Nelson Funeral Home, with Reverend Lyle Holland officiating. Public visitation will be held from 5:00–6:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service from 6:00–7:00 p.m.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Harlon and Mary Wheat. He is survived by his two children, Tyler Wheat (Alexis) and Thekla Harris (Cade); his two grandchildren, Kolten and Kohen Wheat; and his siblings, Steve Wheat, Dwight Wheat (Suzie), and Teresa Wheat.
The pallbearers will be Tyler Wheat, Steve Wheat, Dwight Wheat, Brent Wheat, Tim Wyrick, and Cody Brooks.
Honorary pallbearers are the employees of Tamko.
Michael Wheat was born on January 28, 1974, to Harlon Junior Wheat and Mary Parker Wheat. He was a lifelong resident of Fayette, a devoted father, and a faithful friend.
Michael was a maintenance planner at Tamko Building Products in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, a career that spanned twenty-seven years. A quiet man of wisdom and courage, he dedicated his life to his family, ensuring his children knew the value of hard work and determination.
Whether he was cheering from the sidelines of softball and baseball games, teaching his children and grandchildren to fish and hunt, or including them in whatever he was repairing or building, Michael made every moment unforgettable. His legacy endures in the lives he shaped and the example he set each day.
