Michael Christopher Hurst

Mr. Michael Christopher Hurst, age 56 of Fayette, passed away Sunday, September 28, 2025 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 1-P.M. from Nelson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery in Newtonville. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11-A.M. till 1-P.M. at the funeral home. 

Michael Christopher Hurst was born on October 10, 1968 to Joe Ruth McDougle and Tollie Hurst Jr. in Pickens County. Michael was the first born of two boys. Michael confessed his life to Christ at an early age and he loved the Lord and loved being a member of Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Fayette, AL, under the leadership of the late Revered Morgan.
    Mike (as everyone called him) was a cheerful young man and loved by many from living in Columbus, GA, Crestview, FL and Fayette, AL. Mike moved back to Fayette, AL to live with his loving grandmother Mae Ruth Wells in his early 20’s. He then met the love of his life, LaSandra Johnson in 1992 and they joined as one on July 22, 1997 and then begin their life long journey. Mike attended Bevill State Community College in 2004, in which he graduated with his Associates of Applied Science degree in Electrical Technology and he continued his journey to obtain his Journeyman’s Electrician Certification. After many years of having his own business, Michael attended Shelton State Community College where he obtained his CDL License to become an Owner Operator Truck Driver in which he and his wife Overseer LaSandra Hurst began their own trucking business S&M Hurst Transportation, LLC. Although Michael was a truck driver, he still maintained his Electrician license and helped others when needed as well as doing work in their ministry Assembly Of Divine Faith Ministry, in where he remained faithful until going home to be with the Lord on September 28, 2025.
    He is proceeded in death by his father Tollie Hurst Jr, Grandfather Tollie Hurst Sr, Grandmother Mattie Ruth Hurst, Grandmother Mae Ruth Wells, Grandfather James Wells, Uncle Otis Charles Hurst, Uncle Dock Lee Hurst, Uncle Billy McDougle, Aunt Mae Lee Montgomery, Stepfather Lee Roy Wilson, Grandmother in Law Katie Mae Harton and Father in Law William McArthur Johnson.
    Michael leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife LaSandra Hurst (Fayette, AL), Mother Joe Ruth Wilson (Crestview, FL), (His best friend) Brother Marty Hurst (Alicia), Crestview, FL, Sister Anieisia Cole (Shawn), San Antonio, TX, a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, uncles and aunts, Special Friends Rickey Cole (Denise), Jerry Stowe (Melissa), Phillip Nalls, Emmitt Morgan (Sharon), his close cousins Demetrius McDougle and Jeffery Haywood and special Uncle Tobie McDougle (Veronica), mother-in-law Willow T. Montgomery, brother-in-law Cyres York, Hurst,  Wilson and McDougle families, and all of his Harton and Johnson in-laws.
