Melba Kuykendall

Mrs. Melba Jean Sands Kuykendall, age 76, of Bankston, passed away Sunday, November 28, 2021 at Generations of Vernon.

Service will be  Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at 11:00 am at New Liberty Freewill Baptist Church with Bro. Adam Smith officiating. Mrs. Kuykendall will lie in state from 10-11. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.

Mrs. Kuykendall was born in Fayette Co., on December 1, 1944. She married at the young age of 16, and devoted her life to her family. She was a homemaker and avid antique collector. Her legacy as a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother will forever be what her family strives daily to be like! She raised her girls in a Christian home and instilled Jesus in their daily lives.

Mrs. Kuykendall was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Donia Sands; her brothers, Lewis Sands, Luther Sands and Fred Sands and her son-in-law, Jimmy D. Sullinger.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Jerry Wayne Kuykendall; her daughters, Susan (Charles Ray) Odom of Bankston, Robin (David) Boyd of Northside, Christy (Allen) Keeth of Bankston; her grandchildren, Colby Odom of Bankston, Kayla (Hunter) Burgess of Glen Allen, Ashlyn (Westley) Hamner of Vance, and Whitney (Dustin) Hammack of Bankston; and her great grand children, EmmaRae, AnnaLeigh and Case Odom, Alli and Corbin Burgess, Saylor and Oakley Hamner and LoreLai and Cabel Hammack; 2 sisters, Nell (Marshall) Lowery of Bankston and Ruthie (Melvin) Feltman of Pea Ridge and 1 brother Ted (Beverly) Sands of Bankston.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Colby Odom, Hunter Burgess, Westley Hamner and Dustin Hammack, her great nephews, Jeremy Lowery and Kyle Lowery and her grandson in love, Jared Taylor.
