Mark Lowery, age 52, passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 6, 2026.
Born on June 15, 1973, Mark was a son, a father, a brother, and a man who knew what it meant to both walk with God and to wander and to be found again.
There was a time in his life when Mark answered the call to preach, and he did not take it lightly. He stood behind pulpits and delivered messages with boldness, truth, and a passion for the Gospel. He preached of a God who restores, a God who reaches down, and a God who never gives up on His people, reminding others that “Hell Can’t Stand When God Stoops” and speaking of Jesus as the “Friend of the Bruised Reed.”
Mark also knew what it was to struggle. He walked through hard seasons and made choices that took him down difficult roads. But even in those places, the truth he once preached never left him.
In the last days of his life, that same God he preached about came near again. Mark found himself back at an altar, praying, seeking, and crying out for deliverance. Just before his passing, he shared a testimony of what God was doing in his life. In a way only God can write, his story did not end in the struggle. It ended with him turning back.
If Mark could say anything now, it might sound a lot like the words he once wrote, that God has never made a mistake, never told a lie, and never failed, and that even when a man loses his way, there is still a way back.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Buster and Pelina Lowery and John and Lorene Renfroe.
He is survived by his parents, Ralph Lowery and Mona Lowery; his daughters, Lauren Cain (Isaiah Cain) and Destini Lowery; his sister, Lori Vickers (Shawn Vickers); his nephews, Gabriel Vickers and Jacob Vickers; and his soon to be born grandson, Forrest Beau Cain, whom he was eagerly awaiting.
The family would like to express special appreciation to Roger and June Pridmore and to Ashley and Debra Faulk for the love, support, and kindness shown to Mark.
Pallbearers will be Joe Lowery, Tracy Faulk, Josh Beard, Jimmy Renfroe, Cecil Junkin, and Bobby Caffee. Honorary pallbearers will be the pastors who opened their doors to him along the way.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a trust established in honor of his grandson, Forrest Cain.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 13, 2026, with visitation at 11:00 a.m. and the service to follow at 12:00 p.m. Ashley Faulk, David Beard, Trae Smoak, and Greg Adkins will officiate.
Mark was deeply loved. His life was not perfect, but it was real, and in the end, it was touched by the grace of God.
The family asks that you continue to lift them up in prayer during this time.
