Mrs. Marjorie Morris, age 84 of Berry, passed away Thursday, September 16, 2021 at her residence.
She was born Marjorie Snow Morris on November 5, 1936 to Ollie and Flossie Snow. They were farmers. She spent most of her life farming and it was a hard life. She would often care for her two sisters while her mama and daddy worked in the fields. She learned to cook at the age of 9. She attended school at Ettica up until the 9th grade when she dropped out to get married to James Daniel Floyd Morris. He worked at the lumber mill and she raised babies and took care of the home. She loved gardening and keeping everything at home clean and neat. She loved having flowers and a pretty yard. She had 3 boys and 1 girl. Her husband died in 1967 when she was 8 months pregnant with her last child. She moved with her children into a house she rented from Marshall Walker, and she never remarried. She always said there was no man gonna treat her kids like his own. She raised her kids on her on. She planted and worked a garden every year and helped her parents with theirs. She would help her mother can food every year for the winter. Life was hard but she was strong. She lost her first son in 1981, her father in 2001, her sister in 2002, mother in 2008, another son in 2014 and her last son in 2018. Even though she had been through more than anyone should ever have to go through she remained strong. She enjoyed her grandkids and great-grandkids. Often when the day was done she loved to enjoy a big bowl of chocolate ice cream. She loved sweets and anyone that knew her loved and admired her.
