Marilyn Lawrence Obituary

Marilyn DeLane Williamson Lawrence of Fayette, Alabama passed away early Tuesday morning, April 2, at Fayette Long Term Care in Fayette, Alabama.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 4, 2024 at 3-P.M. from Nelson Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside service will follow in Rehobeth Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 1-3 P.M. at the funeral home.

Marilyn was born on November 11, 1943 in Childersburg, Alabama to Pauline Gibson Williamson and Neom Richard "NR" Williamson. Marilyn grew up with her most beloved brother, Ray Williamson in Berry, Alabama where she graduated from Berry High School in 1961.

She married James Ronald "Ronny" Lawrence of Fayette, Alabama on December 16, 1961 and moved to Auburn, Alabama. Following college they returned to Fayette and built their life together for 62 wonderful years. She was an active member of Rehobeth Baptist Church where she loved on every child in the nursery. She also was a fabulous homemaker, hostess and cook. Always quick to be of help or service to those in need, she was a blessing to all who knew her. She was a loving mother and blessed to raise two sons; James Richard "Jay" Lawrence (Vicki Clark Lawrence) of Fayette, Ronald Garrett "Garry" Lawrence (Shelley Pennington Lawrence) of Gordo, They were blessed again with four grandchildren who filled their hearts; Logan Elizabeth Lawrence Logan (Caleb) of Missoula, Montana; James Clark Lawrence (Kaitlin Day Lawrence) of Fayette, Jackson Garrett Lawrence (Amy Ragan Lawrence) of Huntsville, and Jenna DeLane Lawrence Hearing (Cody Hearing) of Northport. Three beloved great-grands who thrilled her soul, James Landon and Maggie Ann Lawrence of Fayette, and Josephine DeLane Hearing of Northport. She delighted in them and all their accomplishments and activities.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Pauline and Neom Williamson, her brother, Ray Williamson; and infant daughter, Janet DeLane Lawrence and an infant son.  

Honoray pallbearers will be: Caleb Logan (grandson), Dr. Charles Nolen, Jr., Dr. Fred Yerby, staff and nurses at Fayette Long Term Care, and Alabama Hospice Care of Jasper.

Active pallbearers will be: grandsons-Clark Lawrence, Jackson Lawrence, Cody Hearing , nephews- Clay Barnes, Will Barnes, Judd Thomas and Jake Thomas.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Alabama Hospice Care of Jasper, Gideons International or to Rehobeth Baptist Church of Fayette.
