Lonnie Clifton Buford

Lonnie Clifton Buford, 62, of Fayette County, Alabama, passed away on October 28, 2024, at home in Fayette, Alabama. Lonnie was born on July 25, 1962, in Berry, Alabama.  Lonnie was a beloved son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend.

Lonnie was Momma’s boy who truly had a servant heart. He attended Northside High School in Samantha Alabama where he spent much of his adult life.  Lonnie moved to Fayette Alabama to be close to his mother and be able to watch over her.

Lonnie is survived by his mother, Opal Marie Buford, his brothers Archie Buford (Kaye), Ronnie Buford (Annie) and his sisters Wanda Curington (Travis) and Mary Shirley (Ziggy Spires). He was also cherished by his nieces and nephews who he loved as his very own, Justin Curington (Angie), J.T. Curington (Kayla), Stacey Vice (Cody), Brittany Bonnor (Josh), Tabatha Connell (Matthew), Regina Buford, Archie “Lee” Buford (Amanda), Kristal Dill (Joseph), and Anna Kate Wilson and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Lonnie was predeceased by his father, Marvin Buford and his oldest brother, Allen Bruce Buford, his grandmother Alma Spurgeon and his grandfather Lonnie Spurgeon.

Lonnie worked for many years in the fencing business and later retired due to his health.  Lonnie loved to talk about God and what God has done for him even when times were tough, he would remind us that God was there for us and that we need to all be ready.  

Services will be held Friday, November 1st at Nelson Funeral Home,  visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with services to follow at Nelson Funeral Home with Bro. Drew Self officiating, burial will follow at Davis Chapel.  We would all ask that you dress casually as Lonnie would have wanted you to be comfortable.

Pallbearers will be Ziggy Spires, Travis Curington, John Wilson, Ricky Frost, Brennon Dalton and James Gann .
