Lois N Rainey

Mrs. Lois N. Rainey, age 86 of Fayette, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at Fayette Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 14, 2023 at 2-P.M. from Nelson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Bethel Methodist Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 12-2 P.M. at the funeral home.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Wyman and Willie Mae Nichols, sisters: Helen Perkins, Peggy Warren, Jean Simmons, and Nell Smith. 

Survivors include her husband of 66 years Curt Rainey of Fayette, two sons: Randy Rainey (Laura) of Fayette, Greg Rainey (Myra) of Fayette, daughter: Beth Moore (Greg) of Fayette, brother: Donny Nichols (Mary Jo) of Fayette, sister: Patricia Nichols, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. 

Lois and Curt were married for 66 years, they met in high school in 1953, dated for four years then married in 1957. Lois spent her life as a homemaker, mother, and wife. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and cooking in her younger years. In later years she enjoyed reading and spending time with grands and great grands. She attended Southside Baptist Church from 1965 until she was no longer able to attend.

Honorary pallbearers are: Medsurg Nursing Station, Dr. Dakota Acton Jones, Fayette DCH Respiratory Staff, other DCH Staff, Dr. Greg Stidham, and Rebecca Yerby.

Active pallbearers will be: Michael Rainey, Garrett Rainey, Chase Rainey, Michael Simmons, Kevin Rhudy, and Kyle Nichols.
