Mrs. Karen Diane Strickland, age 68 of Fayette, passed away June 17, 2023 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at 3-P.M. from Nelson Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Karen was the 1st female mayor of Belk, 1st female assistant fire chief, GED instructor for several years, council member of Belk, and instrumental in building the Belk Community Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents: William and Mattie Willis Kimbrell, and brother: Curtis Lee Kimbrell.
She is survived by her husband: Eddie Strickland, “Borrowed Children”: Adam Smith (Apryl), Andy Smith, Cindy Vance (Jeremy), brothers: Gary Kimbrell (Martha), Larry Wallace (Mary), Scott Wallace (Sherry), sisters: Hilda Dudley, Sharon Wallace (Roger), Denese Smith (Donald), God-daughter: Scarlet Turner, and a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends.
Honorary pallbearers were: Belk Volunteer Fire Department, Alan Dudley, Steve Wallace, Chris Peters, Will Kimbrell, Austin Kimbrell, Todd Strickland, Scott Strickland, Allen Strickland, Andy Dison, Dewayne Stripling, Ryan Strickland, Cody Strickland, Shane Strickland, Timmy Strickland, Daniel Atkinson, Casey Wallace, and Ronald Cooley.
