Joyce Champion Elliott, 70, of Vestavia, AL, went home to be with her
Lord and Savior on September 3rd, 2024 at her residence surrounded
by her loving family. Joyce was born on July 12, 1954 to Homer and
Ruth Champion in Fayette, AL.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 10 at Nelson
Funeral Home in Fayette with Joyce’s beloved nephew, Brad King,
officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 at the funeral
home. Service will follow in the chapel.
Joyce was predeceased by her parents Homer Champion and Ruth
Champion Frost and stepfather, Oscar Frost; her siblings, Jimmie Nell
McMahon, Dorothy Guin, Robert Champion, and Linda Evans.
She is survived by her daughter, Kellye Howton, grandson Zach Howton
(Mallory); siblings, Marie Scimemi, Wayne Champion, Judy Mueller
(Ron), Sharon Younghance (M.C.), Tommy Champion (Karen), Vicki
Lawley, Debbi Moses (Fred), Ricky Champion (Sylvia), Danny
Champion (Shari), and Tracey Strickland (Scott). She also leaves
behind many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews
that are too numerous to mention who love her deeply and will miss her
dearly. She also leaves behind her precious dog, Scarlett, who has
been a comfort to her during her illness.
A special thank you to Agape Care Group, especially Dr. Thayer Moor
and Aubrey Wilson, who took compassionate and loving care of Joyce
during her time with them.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the
American Cancer Society (Endometrial Cancer).
