Johnnie "J.B." Swiney

Mr. Johnnie "J.B." Swiney, age 74 of Fayette, passed away March 24, 2026 at DCH Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 27, 2026 at 11-A.M. from Mt. Hebron Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Mt. Hebron Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 10-11 A.M. at the church. Bro. Terry Joe Oswalt, Bro. David Wilson, and Bro. Jacob Rice will officiate.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Albert and Bertha Swiney, brothers: Burton, James, Sam, Billy, and Bobby, sisters: Elizabeth, Evelyn, Faye, Edna, and Mollie, grandson: Tristen, mother-in-law: Mary, sister-in-law: Trina, and brother-in-law: Jacob.

Survivors include his wife of 29 years: Rita, children: Tynissa (Donald), Melisa (Clint), John-David (April), and April, grandchildren: Marlena (Chad), Hanah (Carson), John-Owen, Mary Piepho, Emma Piepho, Elijah, and Caitlynn, brothers: Robert Earl and Clarence, sister: June, sister-in-law: Angela, and several nieces and nephews.

Daddy was a hard worker and provider for his family. He was an avid outdoorsman particularly fishing. He loved family get togethers, where he could bestow his signature form of love through jokes, stories, and pranks. He was especially proud of all his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren. He was a kind and gentle husband to his wife Rita and his step-daughter April, whom he raised like his own.

Honorary pallbearers will be: lifelong friend Arnold Barrett, CICU nurses and staff, friends and family of the Brownville, Moore's Bridge, and Northside communities.

Active pallbearers will be: John-Owen Watson, Elijah Swiney, Jeremy Swiney, Brent Swiney, Mike Winters, Chris Jones, Jacob Brashier, and Matthew Jones.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Childrens Hospital in memory of J.B. Swiney.
