Johnnie Edwin Johnson

Mr. Johnnie Edwin Johnson, age 79 of Fayette, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2023 at the Fayette Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 15, 2023 at 11-A.M. from Nelson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday from 10-11 A.M. at the funeral home.

Mr. Johnson was a loving member of the Fayette Community, winning Fayette County boy of the year 1961-1962, and a 38-year veteran of the Alabama Nation Guard.  He proudly served in the 877th Engineering Battalion located in Fayette, AL and deployed once to Iraq in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.  Mr. Johnson was a faithful follower of Christ and a longtime member of Bethel Baptist Church.  Mr. Johnson was a successful entrepreneur, owning and operating his own company for 15 years.  He was known for his selfless service to others and his family whom he deeply loved.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Mr. John Hillard and Dorsey Johnson, and his wife, Judy Johnson. 

Survivors include his sister and brother-in-law , Patrick and Judy Taylor; his daughter and son-in-law, Chris and Laura Hyche; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Callan Johnson; grandchildren, Christopher Hyche, Jessie Hyche, Joshua Hyche, Joey Hyche, Boaz Hyche, Molly Ruth Johnson, and Maggie Johnson. 

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Bethel Baptist Church or Veterans of Foreign Wars.
