Mr. Jerome Stowe, age 72 of Fayette, passed away December 6, 2023 at Fayette Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 11, 2023 at 1-P.M. from Nelson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Canaan Baptist Cemetery. A visitation will be held Monday from 11-1 P.M. at the funeral home.
On the morning of Wednesday, December 6th, 2023, Joseph Jerome Stowe departed from this world to his eternal rest. Jerome was born November 5th, 1951 in Fayette, AL, to the loving parents Arline A. Stowe and Lona Bell Nalls Stowe.
Jerome confessed Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and united with Canaan Missionary Baptist Church in Fayette, AL where he served as a trustee.
He received his early education from Canaan Jr. High School then transferred to West Highland High School and then graduated from Fayette County High School in 1970. He later attended Brewer State Jr. College where he played basketball for two years.
Jerome entered into Holy Matrimony with the love of his life, Phyllis Marie Wright, on September 24th, 1971. The Lord blessed this union with three children Stephanie, Kristin, and Justin.
He worked at Fayette Cotton Mill for over 20+ years until its closure, then he moved to Delta Manufacturing until its closure, and the final eight years at SDR in Millport, AL until retirement in 2016 at the age of 65.
In his retirement he enjoyed working on lawnmowers and appliances, watching sports, loved sitting at Chevron watching traffic, and spending time with family.
Jerome was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Lou Ester Stowe, sister in law Brenda McCollum Stowe, and his in laws Gerald Sr and Lossie Wright.
He leaves to cherish many wonderful memories, his beloved wife of 52 years, his beloved children Stephanie (Tim) Driver and Kristin Stowe Darling both of Fayette, AL and Justin Stowe of St. Petersburg, FL; grandchildren: Zahria M. (Tavis) Shackelford, Zaylin M. Driver, and Zandria M. Darling all of Fayette, AL; great grandson: Eli Jamari Shackelford of Fayette, AL; one brother John A. (Eva) Stowe and one sister Jimmie Nell Stowe- Nolden, both of Fayette; two sisters- in- law: Sandra (Sebastian) Cannon of Houston, TX, and Helen (Alfred) McLish of Fayette, AL; two brothers- in- law: Gerald (Loyda) Wright of Daphne, AL and Henry( Carrie) Wright of Waxhaw, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
