Jeremy Duane Waltrip

Mr. Jeremy Waltrip, age 47 of Berry, passed away Monday, June 23, 2025 at UAB Hospital. 

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 28, 2025 at 4-P.M. from Nelson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Berry Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 2-4 P.M. at the funeral home. 

He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Wilburn and Shirley Dozier, and Melvin and Billy Waltrip. 

Survivors include his wife: Bethany Yerby Waltrip , mother: Melisa Bowles, sons: Brandon Simmons (Hannah), Eli Waltrip, and Ashton Waltrip, brother: Shane Waltrip (Jennifer), and three grandchildren: Maddy, Riggins and Dallas Simmons.

Jeremy was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His sense of humor and love for his family were the hallmarks of his character. His love for them knew no bounds and his legacy will live on in their hearts. Jeremy was an avid hunter and fisherman. Not only did he enjoy the great outdoors, he instilled this love for hunting and fishing in his boys and grandchildren. He delighted in watching his children and grandchildren catch a fish or kill their first deer. He never met a stranger. He loved to talk and if you talked to him for more than a few minutes the conversation would always be about his family, hunting, fishing or Alabama football. He was an avid sports fan and gave his support by coaching little league baseball and football. If there was a game being played anywhere and his boys were playing he would be there. Jeremy was a hard worker and a great provider for his family. His love for his family and friends was unwavering and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. 

Honorary pallbearers are: Zach Reeves, Jordan Cooley, Allen Harvill, Christian Cooke, Jamey Farley, and Skyler Deavours.

Active pallbearers will be: Wayne Jones, Alex Jones, Devan Jones, Dan Deavours, Andy Green, and Kyle Billings.
