James Madison Hilyer

Mr. James Madison Hilyer, age 66 of Fayette, passed away February 15, 2024 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 19, 2024 at 2-P.M.  from Nelson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Fayette Memorial Gardens. Bro. Robert Parrish will officiate.The family will receive friends Monday from 12-2 P.M. at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Julian and Claudie Hilyer.

Survivors include a brother: Jeffery Hilyer of Zephyrhills, FL, sisters: Deborah Hilyer and Gloria McDaniel, both of Fayette, nieces: Ashley McDaniel and April McDaniel, and nephew: Adam McDaniel.

Mr. Hilyer finished school at Pickens County High School in 1976. After graduation, he went to work at Lamar Manufacturing and a few other plants before retiring from Delta Apparel. He was an avid Alabama fan that never missed a gameand loved attending the games when he was able to. He loved his family and friends deeply and spent as much time with them as he could.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Dr. Fred Yerby, Fayette Medical Center, and Shelby Baptist Medical Center.

Active pallbearers will be: Jeff Belcher, Brad Belcher, Wayne Lisle, Gene Keeth, Lucas Keeth, and Jamie McDaniel.

The family request anyone attending to wear Alabama apparel for the service if you have it.
