Ivy Grzala

Mrs. Ivy Grzala, age 83 of Fayette, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2024 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 1-P.M. from Nelson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Berry. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12-1 P.M. at the funeral home.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Troy Carlos and Florence Ethel Hocutt, sons: Ervin Eugene Goff, Bobby Dean Goff, and Robert Lee Goff.

Survivors include her husband: David P. Grzala of Fayette, son: David Wayne Grzala of Opp, two daughters: Paula Denise Hyde of Haleyville, and Melody Renee Barrentine of Northside, nine grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Ivy was born and raised in Fayette County with her four sisters, Merle Ruth, Ruby Nell, Lois Marie, Pearl Nell, and three brothers, Walter "Bud", William "Sonny", and Troy Bell by parents Florence Ethel and Troy Carlos Hocutt. As a 15 year old Ivy moved to Chicago with her mom where she found work at Clark Candy Bar. Her family soon began in 1959 where she would start her motherhood journey. She met David in 1968 and they added two children to the group for a total of six children before relocating back to her childhood home in Fayette County. She was a dedicated and loving mother that did what ever she needed to do to raise and take care of her family. Ivy was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother that will be greatly missed but always remembered and celebrated.

Honorary pallbearers are: David Watkins, David Carl Goff, and Hayden Smith.

Active pallbearers will be: Justin Grzala, J.R. Robertson, Mike Hyde, Mark Turner, Jonathon Goff, and James Robertson.
