Gary Watkins

Mr. Gary Watkins, age 82 of Gordo, passed away Monday, October 26, 2025 at Hospice of West Alabama.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at 2-P.M. from Nelson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1-2 P.M. at the funeral home. David Westmoreland will officiate.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Jimmy and Virgie Harkins Watkins, son: Gary Watkins, Jr., and brothers: Joe Max and Raymond Watkins.

Survivors include his son: Michael Watkins (Camille), daughters: Ashley Homan (Lance) and Rikita Beams (Robert), 9 grandchildren: Kyle, Bradley, Natalie, Justin, Tyler, Maddox, Camden, Tenley, and Kyson, and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Watkins was born in 1943 to Jimmy and Virgie Watkins. He graduated from Fayette County High School, worked at Weyerhauser from 1975 - 1996, where he served as product supply and management supervisor. He was very entrepreurial, and had multiple businesses throughout his lifetime. He was a devoted father to 4 children. He exemplified being a man of God by showing kindness and love to everyone he met.

He and his son, Gary Watkins, Jr. owned and operated Fayette Foret Products for more than 20 years. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Honorary pallbearers will be: McDonalds and Jacks coffee crews, and Dr. Azam.

Active pallbearers will be: Brandon Watkins, Justin Watkins, Kyle Cook, Will Ayres, Bradley Beams, and Tyler Watkins.
