Obituary
Mr. Gary Watkins, age 58 of Fayette, passed away Friday, May 19, 2023 at Hospice of West Alabama.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 21, 2023 at 3-P.M. from Nelson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Covin Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-3 P.M. at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Jimmy and Vergie Watkins, and Jack and Inez Owens.
Survivors include his wife: Anna McDonald Watkins, parents: Gary Watkins Sr., and Dorsey Owens Watkins, sons: Justin Andrew Watkins (Natosha), Tyler Clay Watkins, daughter: Natalie Watkins Ayres (Jim), brother: Michael Watkins (Camille), sisters: Rikita Watkins Beams (Robert), and Ashley Watkins Homan (Lance), seven grandchildren: Tucker Watkins, Charleigh Watkins, Riley Watkins and Jackson Watkins, James "Will" Ayres V, Chase Ayres, and Emmalynn Ayres.
Gary was a lifelong citizen of Fayette, born to Gary Sr. and Dorsey Watkins. He graduated Fayette County High School in 1983. He married Anna in 1986 and was lovingly married for 37 years.
Honorary pallbearers are: Roy Johnson, Dr. James Evans and Staff of Fayette Outpatient Oncology, Employees of Fayette Forest Products.
Active pallbearers will be: Kyle Cook, Bradley Beams, Chuck Collins, Cal McDonald, Terry Taylor, Greg Rogers, Daryl Rogers, and Ricky Carroll.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations to Hospice of West Alabama.
