He was born on March 1, 1943 to Almous and Jennie Mae "Bob" Taylor in Fayette, Alabama.
He retired from Marathon in 2008.
Gary enjoyed fishing, and bird hunting in his off time. He was known for his dry sense of humor and always picking at the ones that he loved, whether is was a joke or popping you with a rubber band. There were many family vacations to the beach or the mountains, and twice to the west to Yellowstone National Park. He kept map books that could easily be reached to look up a road someone asked about. Then there was his love of Atlanta Braves Baseball, he knew all the stats of the players and was eager to talk about those games win or loose.
Gary enjoyed his grandchildren and the great-grands, all playing at his feet until they got to the age to where he would pick at them to remind them he loved them, He would always say "now if I don't pick at you, I don't like you."
Gary is survived by his wife of 64 years: Willie Mae Taylor, sons: Gary Wayne (Renee), Phillip (Victoria), daughter: Pam Rollins, grandchildren: Emily Tittle (Brandon) of Fayette, Jordan Taylor (Megan) of Florida, Ryan Taylor of Fayette, Amanda Conquest (Robert) of Fayette, Courtney Simmons of Fayette, great-grandchildren: Weston Cason, Mattie, Mila, Ellie, Kaleb, Katonna and Sophia.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Almous and Jennie Mae(Bob)Taylor, brothers: Aaron and Micheal, and grandchildren: Caleb and Kyle Simmons, and Jessica Paige Hoobler.
