Fred Rogers Obituary

Mr. Fred Rogers age 91 of Fayette, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. 

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 2-P.M. from Southside Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Fayette Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1-2 P.M. at the church. 

Mr. Rogers was born January 2, 1934 to Rich and Appie Rogers in Tuscaloosa County. He always like to tell people when asked his birthday, I was born 1234.  He attended and graduated from Palmetto High School.  After graduation, he married his High School Sweetheart Bobbie Sue Holliman on May 22, 1954.   They were happily married for 71 years and raised three sons.

Mr. Rogers was a faithful member of Southside Baptist Church and served as a deacon for many years.  He loved the Lord and his church family.  It was only in the past few months that he had  become unable to attend.  He was a people person and loved talking with anyone he saw in passing.   For many years, he was an avid deer and turkey hunter.
When they moved to Harkins Lake,  he spent more time fishing. 

Mr. Rogers was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Alvin Rogers, Clayton Rogers and Norman Rogers. Three sisters, Lett Robertson, Effie Mae Dyer and Mabel Dyer.

His is survived by his wife, Bobbie Sue Rogers,  sons Ricky (Marianne) Rogers of Northport , Danny (Sandra) Rogers of Fayette and Joey Rogers of Yucca Valley, CA .  Six granchildren, Josh (Jessica) Rogers, Northport,  Nathan (Valerie) Rogers, Irvine, CA, Kandice Rogers, Northport,  Nikki (Ross) Mason, Northport, Erika (Elliott) Marsh, Northport, and Jessica Sierra Rogers, Medford, OR.   Five great granchildren Raegan Rogers, Zeke Rogers, Stella Mason, Mary Ellis Mason, Ronan Marsh and soon to arrive Baby Boy Marsh.  He is also survived by his loving brothers Armon Rogers of Moundville, and Eugene Rogers of Northport as well as many nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers are Phillip and Linda Rushing, Jimmy Guin, Dr. Martha Jo Christian and staff, and Lakeside Estates friends and neighbors.

Active pallbearers will be Josh Rogers, Nathan Rogers, Zeke Rogers, Ross Mason, Elliott Marsh, Larry Rogers and Jerry Dyer.
