Evelyn Taylor Olive

Evelyn Taylor Olive, age 78, of Fayette passed away on March 30, 2025.  She was a 1965 graduate of Fayette County High School and received her undergraduate degree from Livingston University (now the University of West Alabama) and her master’s degree from the University of Alabama. She began her professional career in the Sumter County school system. She began working in the library at Brewer State Junior College (now Bevill State Community College) in 1972 and retired in 2000 as the head librarian.  She was a member of the Fayette Church of Christ for more than sixty-five years.  She was a past member of the Progress Club, the Music Study Club, and the Retired Teachers’ Association.

She was preceded in death by Jerry Olive, her husband of 53 years as well as her parents Jake and Estelle Weeks Taylor.  She is survived by daughter Terri Olive Tompkins (Matt) of Tuscaloosa; son Jesse Olive (Amanda) of Fairhope; grandchildren Sara Quinn Tompkins of Tuscaloosa and Luke Emory Olive of Fairhope; sisters Betty Sills and Carolyn Arant and brothers Phillip Taylor and Paul Taylor as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 2 at 2 pm at the Fayette Church of Christ with visitation at 1 pm.
