Elizabeth “Betty” Phillips was born on February 3, 1931 in Fayette County. On June 1, 1947 she married the love of her life John K Phillips and from that union 5 children, 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson have run across her kitchen floor. Over the years, she came to be known to family and friends alike as simply “Grandmommy”. As a military wife who moved frequently, she learned to be adaptable and instilled in her children an abiding love for Jesus, family and her country. The impenetrable bond between herself and her children permeated their lives and filtered down through each generation to create a legacy of love.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John K Phillips; her children Anne Strickland (Charles), Kelly Phillips (Karen), Johnny Phillips, and Larry Phillips (Linda); her sister Dot Fields and brother-in-law Bobby Fields; grandson Spencer Phillips and log time companion Alfred Trimm. She is survived by her daughter Mary Neff (Bob), sister Joan McKinney (Buddy) and a “yard full” of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandson. She lived in her home until her death on November 26th with her granddaughter (Beth), grandson-in-law (Glenn), and faithful companions Charlie and Cricket.
The family will hold a private graveside service.
Rather, as it is written: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no heart has imagined, what God has prepared for those who love Him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9
