Doris Cummings

Mrs. Doris Cummings, age 86 of Fayette, passed away October 2, 2021 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 4, 2021 at 1-P.M. from Southside Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Springhill Baptist Church Cemetery-Tuscaloosa County. Bro. Robert Parrish and Lenwood Gilliam will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday from 12-1 P.M. at the church.

Doris was raised in Kennedy, AL. She met and married the love of her life in 1952. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who owned and operated a clothing business in Fayette for several years, and later owned a successful glass business with her husband, in Columbus, MS for over 30 years. Doris was a faithful member of Southside Baptist Church for over 50 years. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her husband. On October 2nd, she departed this life peacefully surrounded by her loving family.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Jonas and Mamie Hayes Stripling, and 6 siblings.

Survivors include her husband: Charles Cummings of Fayette, son: Steve Cummings (Patricia) of Birmingham, daughter: Sharon Morrison of Fayette, brothers: Carl Stripling of Northport and Glendon Stripling of Belk, sister: Ellen Kizzire of Winfield, 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Southside Baptist Church, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Active pallbearers will be: Karac Cummings, Jeremy Hubbert, Justin Cummings, Ben Cummings, Stephen Cummings, Skylar Hubbert, and Gavin Hubbert.
