David Russell Watkins, a beloved husband, father, son, and friend, passed away on December 31, 2025, at the age of 56. Fiercely devoted to his family and his faith, David lived a life rooted in love and loyalty.
A native of Fayette County, Alabama, David made his home in Brookwood. He was an avid Auburn Tigers fan, proudly cheering for his team while living in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. Known as “an old-fashioned guy in a modern world,” David touched countless lives with his open and steadfast values.
David worked as a bus driver for Tuscaloosa County Schools, where he cared deeply for the students he transported each day.
He is survived by his loving wife, Erika Lynne, his children William Russell and Reagan Lynne, his mother Helen, and his sister Shelia. He was preceded in death by his father, William Donald, and sister Tammy, and several nephews and nieces.
Arrangements: Saturday, January 10, 2026
- Visitation: Nelson’s Funeral Home, Fayette, AL – 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM.
- Graveside Service: Housh Chapel Cemetery – 3:00 PM
David will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but his legacy of faith and family will remain.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to any of these organizations.
