She was preceded in death by her mother: Cora Mae Wright, step-father: Ruel Bobo, father: Lanier Wright, and son: Spencer Phillips.
Survivors include her long-time fiance': Robert Thomas of Fayette, sons: Ryan Phillips (Shelby) of Trussville, AL, and Timothy Phillips (Kim) of Virginia Beach, VA, granddaughter: Emma Mae Phillips, and brother: Larry Wright (Kathy) of Fayette.
She was born December 11, 1953 to Lanier and Cora Mae Wright. Carolyn was the youngest of two children and grew up in Fayette, AL. She was a lifelong member of Southside Baptist Church, majorette, college graduate, schoolteacher and loving mother. She spent countless days at the ball fields watching her sons play baseball and she always made sure they were fed a home cooked meal. Her favorite meal was macaroni and cheese, sauerkraut and weenies, and butter beans. She enjoyed taking afternoon walks with her mom and they seldom missed a day, even in the rain. They probably had a key to the CFC at Southside so they could walk inside while it was raining. She spent over 30 years in education and impacted many lives during that time. She loved math and loved teaching math, especially Algebra II, III and Trig. She may as well have taught many other classes as well because she helped her oldest son with civil engineering degree, helped the middle one through business and accounting degrees and helped the youngest through multiple trade degrees. She taught VBS classes, delivered food to fellow church members until she just couldn't and always put others needs in front of hers. Diagnosed with progressive supranuclear palsy and corticobasal degeneration in 2018, she fought until the very end.
