Bobby Joe Nelson

Mr. Bobby Joe Nelson, age 82 of Berry, passed away Thursday, July 3, 2025 at Grandview Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 7, 2025 at 12-Noon from Nelson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Stan Willis will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday from 10 - 12 P.M. at the funeral home.He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Bettie B. Nelson, parents: William C. "Jack" and Emma Ruth Nelson, brother: Sonny Nelson, and sisters: Inez Smith, Betty Fowler and Dorothy Edmonson.

Survivors include two daughters: Lisa Jo Nelson and Sheena Davis (Ken), both of Berry, son: Tim Nelson (Samantha) of Berry, grandchildren: Trace Nelson, Sophie Nelson, and Skylar Clark (Heather), and two great-grandchildren: Timber and Rykar Clark.

Joe a.k.a. Hollywood, was a loving father and Poppa. He was the primary caregiver for his special needs daughter (his angel) after the passing of his late wife. He went beyond his calling to make sure she was taken care of and loved. Joe was a special kind of person that made you feel welcome no matter where you were. To know Joe Nelson was to love him because he made everyone feel like family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A special thank you to Jammee Sasser and Shauna Thacker (hospice nurse) for the extra special care they provided when Joe got sick.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude for all the kind words and would like to request in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Hospice Care of Jasper.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Tom Ellard, Tom Treadway, Robert Lamoureux, and Mark Bowen.

Active pallbearers will be: Keith Edmonson, Kevin Edmonson, Lance Brown, Wade Clark, Curtis Moore, and Eldon Sides.
