Billy Ray Smith

Mr. Billy Ray Smith, age 93 of Fayette, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 11, 2024 at 2-P.M. from Fayette First Free Will Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Fayette Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1-2 P.M. at the church.

He was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church and owned Smith's Christian Bookstore in Fayette.

He was preceded in death by his parents: William Veldon Smith, Sr. and Bertha Sandlin Smith, his wife: Dorothy Ann Couch Smith, and his 8 siblings: Edgar Smith, William Veldon Smith, Jr., Doyle Smith, Grace Card, Robbie Knight, Johnnie Johnson, and Annie Earl Tucker.

He is survived by his sister: Mildred Tucker, three daughters: Diane Ryan (Ivan), Karen Powell (John), and Kanda Taylor (Kevin), grandchildren: Brad Ryan (Tommi Jo0, Ben Ryan (Jen), Bethany Dwyer (Brandon), Daniel Powell (Holly), Sam Powell, Derek Taylor (Jasmine), and Kayla Corder (Mitchell), and thirteen great grandchildren: Claire, Olivia, Jack, Evan, Ella, and Eli Ryan, and Jonathan Truett, Luci Dwyer, Michael, Joshua, and Noah Powell, and Kanan Taylor.
