Mr. Billy R. Smelley, age 64 of Tuscaloosa, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2023 at Glen Haven Health and Rehab in Northport.
A private service will be held.
Survivors include a brother: Bobby Smelley, sister: Jancie Farley, niece: Devan Malone, nephew: Michael Chase Smelley, great-nieces: Lily Quinn and Emma Malone, great-nephews: Grant Quinn and Gavin Quinn.
He was preceded in death by his parents: T.J. and Amy Smelley, grandparents: Willie Ruth Thomas, Ottie and Vista White, and many aunts, uncles, and many other special relatives and friends.
Billy grew up on Plowman Road and attended many school programs that helped him develop life skills to overcome some of the special needs he had. Many helped Billy and established bonds with Billy that changed his life forever. From attending the Sprayberry Center, the ARC and many other programs, to the many group homes and classes through Indian Rivers Mental Health, he led a full and more normal life. We are grateful for each person who helped Billy along the road of life.
Honorary pallbearers are Glen Haven Nursing Home staff and Compass Hospice.
