Audrey Earnest Alexander — known as Mama Audrey, Sister Audrey, Aunt Audrey, Miss Audrey, and Duchess— was many things to many people.

She was soft-spoken, yet straight-talking. Witty, but quick to blush. She never quite believed she was beautiful, which made it hard for her to accept a compliment — though those who loved her knew she carried a quiet beauty that ran far deeper than appearance.

She raised her young’ns the best she could, working hard and doing what needed to be done. She was proud of her family — most of the time, as she would probably say with a smile — and loved them in an enduring way.

Audrey was strong-willed and sturdy. She enjoyed tending her garden and digging in the yard, finding satisfaction in caring for growing things. That same care showed in how she lived her life.

Her greatest love was the Lord. She passionately loved Him and was a devoted member of Northside Church of God. She did not seek a spotlight. In fact, she preferred to work quietly behind the scenes and never minded doing the thankless jobs. Faithfulness mattered more to her than recognition.

She was well-versed in Scripture and taught Sunday School for over 20 years, pouring wisdom and biblical truth into generations. She was thoughtful and deliberate in both her words and her actions — never careless, never rushed, always sincere.

Audrey’s life was not loud, but it was steady. Not flashy, but faithful. And in that faithfulness, she leaves a legacy that will continue long after her hands have laid down their work.

She was deeply loved, and she will be deeply missed”
