Mrs. Anita Ayres Cannon, age 91 passed away on December 11 ,2021 at her daughter’s home in Owens Crossroads, AL. surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Fayette, AL on July 18, 1930 to the late James William and Eppie Lucille Ayres. She was a graduate of Fayette County High School and was employed by the Fayette County Board of Education for over 30 years as the secretary of Fayette Elementary School.
As a faithful, life-time member of the First Baptist Church of Fayette, she was always willing to serve the Lord in any way she could. Being active in her church and worshipping with her church family brought her much happiness and joy.
Lohrone Cannon, the love of her life and husband for 65 years, preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were five older brothers and five older sisters whom she loved and cherished.
She is survived by her son, Buddy Cannon and wife Susan of Moody, daughter, Dottie Woody, of Owens Crossroads, sister, Peggy Sisson of Trussville, grandchildren Megan LeVan(Nick), Scott Canterberry(Tosha), Courtney McCulley(Griffin), Amy Baker(Scott), and Laura Beth Beckner(Isaac) and many nieces and nephews. Mawmaw will also be greatly missed by her great-grandchildren: Ryan, Eathon, and Gaby LeVan, Hayden Hartman and Layne Baker, and Cannon and Josie Canterberry.
Funeral services will be held at Nelson Funeral Home in Fayette on Monday , December 13, 2021 at 1-P.M.. Dr. Scott Davis of First Baptist Church of Fayette WILL officiate. Burial will follow in Macedonia(Gumbud) Baptist Church cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Jimmy Ayres, Scott Baker, Isaac Beckner, Darrell Brandt, Scott Canterberry, Jeffie Lawrence, Nick LeVan, and Griffin McCulley.
