Angela Cobb Obituary

Mrs. Angela Jean Cobb, age 57 of Fayette, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2025 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 7, 2025 at 1-P.M. from Nelson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Canaan Cemetery. A visitation will be held Friday from 11-1 P.M. at the funeral home.

Angela was born to the union of the late Willie Earl, Sr., and Betty Jean Sparks on August 20th, 1967 in Fayette, Alabama.  She was born the 2nd oldest child (oldest daughter) of five children.  Angela departed this life on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at the UAB Spain Rehabilitation Center in Birmingham, Alabama.

Angela accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age.  She joined and was baptized at Peaceful Rest Missionary Baptist Church, Fayette. Alabama at the age of about 10 years old.  For a short period of time, Angela joined Unity Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the guidance of her father and mother.  Shortly thereafter, Angela rejoined Peaceful Rest Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully until the sun set on her journey of life.

Angela attended the Fayette County School system, where the last 3 years, she was blessed to be able to enroll in the Area Vocational School where she developed a love and passion for doing hair.  Angela graduated from Fayette County High School in 1985.  She developed her God-given talent of cosmetology.  Angela went on to Montgomery, Alabama where she received her Cosmetology license.  She pursued her dream for many years and executed it perfectly until she was physically unable, but even then, Angela continued to offer hair care services and advice until her last days.  While doing her clients’ hair, Angela used that time to inspire, encourage and uplift others.

Angela had been married to Larry Cobb.  To that union, the joy of Angela’s life was born, McKayla Marie Cobb.

Angela conquered some of her fears, including flying in an airplane and driving to Birmingham.  She enjoyed fishing, going to beaches, going to the mountains, and taking several cruises.  Angela loved traveling to New Orleans, Las Vegas, Florida, and Tennessee.  Most importantly, Angela enjoyed the company of her family and friends, dancing, laughing and just simply enjoying life and those around her.  Her beautiful smile will forever live in our memories.

Angela was preceded in death by her first-born brother, her father, Willie Earl Sparks, Sr. and a stepson, Christopher “Lil C” Hill.

Angela leaves to cherish her memories, her loving daughter and best friend, McKayla Marie Cobb of Birmingham, AL; mother, Betty Jean Sparks of Fayette, AL; one brother, Willie Earl Sparks, Jr (Aleesa) of Birmingham, AL; three sisters, Kathy Thomas of Tuscaloosa, AL, Michelle Burris (Michael) and Tammy Sparks, both of Fayette, AL; 5 nephews, Tyrell Sparks (Ashley) of Winfield, AL, Devonte Sparks of Miami, FL, DeShawn Thomas of Jasper, AL, Takeo Brock of Fayette, AL, and Donta Sparks of Birmingham, AL; 2 nieces, SaLess Thomas of Tuscaloosa, AL and Brilynn Sparks of Birmingham, AL;  her sweet great niece, Taliyah “Lee Lee” Sparks whom Angela had an unbreakable bond with from Lee Lee’s birth; 7 stepchildren, Charteka Medley, Tywron Medley, Christopher Wells, Manletto Hinton, Reco Bailey, Ebony Bailey and Chuck Bailey; a special friend and classmate, Arvitt Homol; a special friend and travel buddy, Patricia Franks Montgomery; a special family friend, Wanita Taylor; a host of great nieces, great nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
