Verna Byars

Mrs. Verna Byars, age 93 of Fayette, passed away Monday, October 15, 2018 at Fayette Long Term Care.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at 2-P.M. from Nelson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Fayette Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1-2 P.M. at the funeral home. Bro. Scott Davis and Bro. Randy Key will officiate.

She was preceded in death by her husband: John Byars, son: Ricky Byars, parents: Walter and Annie Honeycutt, grandson: Donald Scott Byars, seven brothers and one sister.

Survivors include two sons: Howard (Kathy) Byars of Millport, Don (Pam) Byars of Belk, daughter-in-law: Linda Byars, brother: Bobby (Betty) Honeycutt of Northport, sister: Margreet Long of Rainsville, six grandchildren: Cindy Byars, Matthew Byars, Mary Kathryn Bozeman, Angie Rushing, Brian Byars, and Steve Rodgers,  and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Byars was a member of Fayette First Baptist Church.

Honorary pallbearers are: Staff at FLTC, Dr. Yerby, and upper room Sunday school class.

Active pallbearers will be: Matthew Byars, Brian Byars, Carl Gray, Shawn Rushing, Steve Rodgers, and Luke Bozeman.
