Richard Griffin

Mr. Richard Griffin, age 78 of Fayette, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Fayette Long Term Care.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at 11-A.M. from Nelson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10-11 A.M. at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Clyde Jefferson and Mattie Hazel Griffin.

Survivors include his wife; Mary Lois Griffin of Fayette, two sons; Ricky Dale Griffin (Cynthia), and Barry Jefferson Griffin (Nicole), two daughters; Tammy Renee Griffin Johnson (Bill), Virginia Diane Griffin Ellis (Rod), eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Mr. Griffin was a caring husband to his wife of 59 years. They met when he was 17 and she was 18. Got married after a week and 3 days and started a life together. They had 4 wonderful and beautiful kids together. He also fished, went Indian arrowhead hunting. He went on trips with his family. I can remember when he didn't have a car he rode his lawn mower to Fayette to see his wife. He loved his wife so much. He also loved to go to Moundville to see the Indians dance. He danced along with them with his grandkids. He was a hard worker at Arvin and love to film with his camcorder. 

Honorary pallbearer who is no longer with us; Amanda Nicole Ellis.

Active pallbearers will be; Jeff Griffin, David Taylor, Ian Smith, Jonathon Johnson, Joe Smith, Thomas Arney, Alex Griffin and Jesse Griffin.
