Michael "Mike" Ray

Mr. Michael "Mike" Ray, age 62, passed away Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Hospice of West Alabama.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 5, at 12-Noon from Big Hill Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 11-12 at the church. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Trey Kelly and Ralph Smith will officiate. 

Survivors include his son: Michael Anthony "Andy" Ray, and granddaughter: Haley Cheyenne Ray.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Sandra Kay Ray, and his parents: Cecil and Mary Ray.

Honorary pallbearers are: members of Big Hill Baptist Church, members of the Big Hill and Springhill communities, customers of Ray's Lawncare Service, Dr. Dubay and the staff of Manderson Cancer Center, staff of DCH 2SE, staff of Hospice of West Alabama.

Active pallbearers will be: Jerry Dyer, David Jones, Kent Reynolds, Jeff Walters, Raiford Walters, Kip Evans, Ricky Wright, and Billy Latham.

When Mike Ray smiled his whole face lit up. His smile and positive attitude blessed the lives of anyone around him. His deep love for God, family, friends and church was proven daily by his words and actions.

His granddaughter, Haley, was the joy of his life. When she walked into the room his face lit up with pride and happiness.

Haley would like to thank the friends and family who offered their compassionate care the last weeks of Mike's life. She felt the support of those who loved her Mama Kay and Papa Mike. She knows that they will continue to love, pray and care for her, as she will them. The gift of their presence and prayers will be remembered and cherished forever.
