Mr. Loy "Danny" Maddox, age 71 of Fayette, passed away Friday, June 21, 2019 at DCH Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 24, 2019 at 11-A.M. from Nelson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Rev. Scott Smyth will officiate.The family will receive friends Sunday, June 23, 2019 from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife of 49Years, 10 months and 27 days: Nancy Richards Maddox of Fayette, daughter: Retta Ary (Rickey) of Austin, TX, son: David Maddox (Jennifer) of Springhill, TN, 2 grandchildren: Jay and Anna, three step-grandchildren: Bailey, Cole, and Emma Grace Ary, and numerous friends and relatives.
Mr. Maddox was born in Schwabish Hall Germany. He was raised in a military family, and moved often in his youth. He voluntarily joined the Army at age 17 and served 2 tours of duty during the Vietnam Conflict. He received his GED while in the Army. After Vietnam, he returned to his family's land where he worked in several different fields. He proudly graduated from the University of Alabama in 1992, earning a degree in secondary education. He taught for over 18 years in the Fayette County School System until he retired.
He was a proud born again Christian and a member of Fayette First United Methodist Church.
Honorary pallbearers will be: members of Fayette Sportsman Club, Sunday Morning Live Sunday School Class, staff of TSICU, Dr. Shelby Sanford and staff, Dr. Aazam, and Dr. Kiwi.
Active pallbearers will be: David Maddox, Rickey Ary, Steve Richards, Mike Richards, Tim Richards, and Rickey Maddox.
